All secondary school students are being invited to participate in a cognitive reasoning test held online on 22nd-23rd March.  The shortlisted applicants would then be asked to submit a short essay related to this year’s theme.  At the end of this stage applicants might be called in for an online interview.

The 24 selected participants shall be notified by 15th June 2025.

EVENT DESCRIPTION:

Four days of focused activities going into various learning areas, run by the best specialised educators we can find. Sessions are not meant to follow National Curriculum in any way, but to excite the student about big ideas within a multidisciplinary context.

The programme is being run in collaboration with the University of Malta and the Directorate for STEM and VET Programmes, with a view to giving young talented students access to tertiary level content. The theme chosen for this year is space exploration, with a specific focus on the development of a human settlement on another planet, considering Mars as an example. The selected theme brings together various concepts in rocket science and engineering, as well as the practical considerations in making Mars habitable and related social-economic, governance and sustainability issues. The participants will be divided into groups to develop their own ideas on different challenges related to occupying Mars, which they will present to a panel at the end of the camp. These sessions will be interspersed with fun activities.

The Programme Directors for this year’s event are Prof. Joseph Borg and Dr Josef Borg, who are both actively involved in space related research.

This event is supported by the Foundation’s various partners and is free of charge for all participants.
